What is the Boiler Scrappage Scheme?
The Government recently announced a 'Boiler Scrappage Scheme' in the autumn of 2009 to be made available to households in England during 2010.
The UK has perhaps the most ambitious CO2 emission reduction targets in the world. The upgrading of domestic boilers with more efficient heating systems is a positive step towards achieving those targets.
Domestic heating accounts for over 14% of the UK's CO2 emissions and there are estimated to be approximately 3.5 million homes in England with the worst efficient type of Boiler known as [G-rated or worse].
To address this problem the Government are funding a Free grant of £400 towards the cost of replacing those boilers with a new energy efficient a-Rated boiler. This will in turn help save around 140,000t CO2 per year - equivalent to taking 45,000 cars off the road.
It makes sense to change your old boiler to a more energy efficient one and save money in the process thanks to the Government grant of £400 towards the change.
- Improve your Energy Efficiency
- Save Money on the Cost
